About Uncle Phuncle

Slow fashion - Made in Melbourne/Naarm Australia

Uncle Phuncle was founded by Ash (pictured below), a self-taught designer and maker.  Starting out with a few hand printed t-shirts and cotton skirts, the label has evolved to offer a range of clothing designed and hand made in Melbourne/Naarm, Australia.

Ethically made and committed to sustainability:
With a focus on slow fashion and supporting local fabric suppliers and haberdashers, all Uncle Phuncle pieces are lovingly designed and made in small quantities in our studio by Ash. As orders are placed via the pre-order format, this reduces waste and risk of overproduction.

Wanting to advocate for and promote local industry, the fabrics and supplies are sourced from local suppliers using new and deadstock fabrics.

The Phuncle Philosophy:
Frustrated with the fleeting trends of seasonal releases, the Phuncle philosophy remains that your wardrobe should be like your favourite music: A great hit should be enjoyed for years to come.

For a sustainable and brighter future for fashion, we encourage everyone to hit repeat on their favourite wardrobe pieces to pump the breaks on rapid trend-based cycles. Rather than seasonal collections, the Phuncle wardrobe focuses on key wardrobe staples that are released in new prints and colours.

Uncle Phuncle stands for a return to vintage fashion values – Quality pieces, designed and made ethically with intention and thoughtfulness.

Uncle Phuncle is a no-fabric waste fashion label:
From 2022, Uncle Phuncle has committed to being a no-fabric-waste fashion label. All off-cuts and fabric scraps are now recycled through Upparel, who recycles textiles into repourposed items such as pet bed fillings, office paritions, insulation and more.
